Day 1: Kigali to Volcanoes National Park
Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from Kigali, followed by a scenic drive north through Rwanda’s rolling hills. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views and glimpses of rural life as you make your way to Volcanoes National Park. After checking in at your lodge near the park, the rest of the day is yours to relax, enjoy the mountain air, or take part in optional cultural visits or a walk to the nearby Twin Lakes.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Lake Kivu
Wake up early for the highlight of your trip - gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. After a short briefing at the park headquarters, you’ll enter the forest with experienced guides and trackers in search of a gorilla family. Once located, you’ll spend one magical hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat. After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and rest before heading to Gisenyi on the shores of Lake Kivu. Settle into a lakeside hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening by the water.
Day 3: Boat Ride on Lake Kivu and Return to Kigali
Begin your day with a peaceful boat ride across the calm waters of Lake Kivu. Take in the scenic views, spot birds, and see traditional fishing boats along the shoreline. After the boat ride, you can enjoy a short walk around Gisenyi or simply relax at your hotel. Later in the day, drive back to Kigali, arriving in the afternoon or early evening.
